Share
The skin around your eyes is super delicate, which makes it more prone to dryness, fine lines, and puffiness. That’s why giving it a little extra love with natural, nourishing ingredients is so important. This DIY under-eye butter is like a mini spa treatment in a jar! It’s loaded with skin-loving ingredients like shea butter for deep hydration, coconut oil to soothe and protect, and rose essential oil to brighten and rejuvenate tired eyes. Say hello to refreshed, radiant skin!
Benefits:
- Shea Butter: Rich in vitamins A and E, shea butter helps improve skin elasticity, making it ideal for reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Coconut Oil: Known for its natural anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties, coconut oil can help soothe dry skin and prevent irritation.
- Rose Essential Oil: Rose oil promotes collagen production and reduces puffiness, plus it’s packed with antioxidants to fight premature aging.
Important Note on Shelf Life:
This under-eye butter should be used within 6 months for maximum freshness. Store it in a cool, dark place to protect the essential oils. Avoid introducing water into the jar, as it can cause contamination. If the butter begins to smell rancid or changes in texture, discard it and make a fresh batch.
Ingredients:
- 1 Cosmetic Jar (or Sterile Glass Jar)
- 4 drops Rose Essential Oil (or Rose Absolute)
- 2 tbsp Shea Butter
- 1 tbsp Coconut Oil
- 1.5 tsp Rice Bran Oil
- 1 tsp Beeswax
Equipment:
- Digital Scales (for precise measurements)
- Saucepan (for the water bath or double boiler method)
- Glass Bowl (such as a Pyrex)
- Small Whisk (for mixing oils)
Instructions:
Melt the Base Ingredients: Begin by measuring and combining all ingredients, except the essential oil, in a heatproof vessel. A Pyrex jug or mason jar works well. Place the vessel in a water bath or double boiler, bringing the water to a boil before reducing to a simmer. Let the mixture melt together for 10 minutes, making sure the water doesn't boil vigorously during the process.
Cool and Add Essential Oil: Once everything is melted, remove the vessel from heat and allow it to cool for about 5 minutes. The mixture should have a thick, liquid consistency similar to ketchup. After cooling slightly, add the rose essential oil and stir well. Cooling the mixture before adding the oil helps preserve its beneficial properties.
Pour Into Jar: Carefully pour or spoon the mixture into your cosmetic jar. Choose a glass or PET plastic jar to ensure the butter stays free from chemicals. If using plastic, avoid regular plastic, as it may leach harmful chemicals into the mixture.
Notes:
- Storage: Store your under-eye butter in a cool, dark place to protect the essential oils, unless you’re using a dark-colored glass jar or metal container.
- Usage Tips: Apply a small amount in the morning after your shower or at night before bed for best results. If you wear makeup, apply the butter below the eyes and let it absorb before applying anything else.
- Shelf Life: Use this under-eye butter within 6 months for maximum freshness. Always ensure no water gets inside the jar to prevent contamination. If it starts to smell rancid or changes in texture, it’s time to discard it and make a fresh batch.
By following these simple steps, you’ll have a natural, hydrating under-eye butter that helps keep your skin smooth, protected, and glowing.
